Lebanon is in dire straights. With everything else going on in the world most people might not be aware of this, but the Cedar Nation is nearing total collapse.
Israel remains ready, willing, begging even, to help its neighbor to the north.
Defense Minister Benny Gantz reiterated the Jewish state’s position on Monday in a series of tweets in Hebrew and English.
Israel has offered assistance to Lebanon in the past and even today we are ready to act, and to encourage other countries to extend a helping hand to Lebanon so that it will once again flourish and emerge from its state of crisis.

While Israel does indeed desire peace with and a return to prosperity for Lebanon, its motivation is not entirely altruistic.
There is grave concern that should Lebanon collapse entirely, it will fall fully under the control of Iran and its proxy, Hezbollah. Such an outcome could greatly shift the regional balance of power and present an unacceptable threat to Israel.
