Israel President Isaac Herzog on Tuesday pleaded with the nations of the world to boycott the upcoming Durban Review Conference, widely known as Durban IV, which he labeled a festival of antisemitism.

Speaking at Global Forum for Combatting Antisemitism hosted by the Israel Foreign Ministry, Herzog stated:

“We must operate throughout the world in unanimity, strength, self-confidence and effectiveness to undermine the next Durban conference, because that conference is a conference of hate and diatribe of the worst kind, ridden with antisemitism in the worst sense of the word which brainwashes regarding who Jews are and what Israel is all about.”

Durban IV, which is scheduled to take place in New York in December, will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first Durban Conference. That original conference deteriorated into an unprecedented Israel-bashing affair, culminating in a declaration that openly labeled Israel as “a racist, apartheid state.”

Things got so bad at the 2001 event in Durban, South Africa that copies of the anti-Jewish conspiracy theory The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion were distributed among participants.

There’s little hope of Durban IV being any better, and so far already nine countries have joined the boycott that Herzog is now pushing. Those countries that will not attend Durban IV include the US, Israel, Canada, Australia, the UK, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
