Avichai Stern: That was before the war. Today, 22,000 evacuees are scattered throughout Israel, in 300 hotels, 460 settlements, with four schools, and 30 kindergartens. About 2,000 people remain in Kiryat Shmona. Whenever the shelling intensifies, more people flee. On calm days, some return. No Hollywood movie could surpass the reality we face. But complaining is not on my agenda.
How does the city administration operate under these conditions?
Our city still provides services to its residents, but they are scattered across the country, which is no easy task. Fortunately, there are dedicated people in the city administration. When it mattered, they accomplished the seemingly impossible.
What support have you received from the government?
Unfortunately, the government is absent and does nothing to improve the situation in the north. There is no central point of contact; you have to ask each office individually for...
