I watched the release of the Israeli female hostages live on television, and it sent goosebumps and shivers down my spine. Hamas broadcasted the release events for the world to see in an attempt to show dominance and strength, yet the hostages put them to shame.
I expected to see young women, completely broken in spirit, faces downcast – a horror to behold. But I was surprised; they smiled, waved (albeit forced by Hamas), made victory gestures with their hands, and refused to speak on stage, holding their heads up high – their spirits untouchable.
Strength swelled within me; I was transported into their injured, abused, and starved bodies, standing resilient like shining angels in a sea of blood-thirsty demons in the pit of hell that is Gaza. History was unfolding before my eyes; I had just met a new generation of Israeli heroines.
