The world has been turned upside down.

While people demonstrate against Israel in the streets of Europe, Israeli artists are booed and boycotts are celebrated, words of respect and solidarity are suddenly coming from parts of the Arab world.

From the United Arab Emirates come biblical quotations, congratulations and support for an Israeli singer at the Eurovision Song Contest, while in some European capitals the Jewish state is increasingly treated like a global pariah.

The contrast could hardly be greater. In places where Israel was considered an enemy for decades, pragmatic recognition is slowly growing. And in places where Europe once saw itself as Israel’s moral ally, the atmosphere is more and more often tipping into ideological hostility.

Perhaps we are witnessing a quiet geopolitical shift that reaches far deeper than music, diplomacy or headlines.
