The war against Iran was meant to demonstrate American strength and bring Tehran to its knees. Yet an entirely different geopolitical consequence may be emerging: while Washington searches for a way out of the conflict, China could turn out to be one of the big winners. This is no longer just about Iran, oil, or freedom of navigation. It is about who will determine the power order in the Middle East going forward: Washington or Beijing? Biblically, this question is by no means new: the prophets already warned Israel against permanently grounding its security in whichever great power happened to be strongest at the time, for empires fall, alliances break, and political interests change. Perhaps today we are witnessing a modern re-enactment of precisely this ancient Israeli experience.
