Before the palace awaits, comes the pit. Before liberation begins, Pharaoh stands in the way. What applied to David, Moses, Joseph, Abraham, Jacob and Esther may also apply to entire peoples. Especially in a time when Israel is going through war, pain and uncertainty, a deeper question arises: What if the greatest trial is not the end of the story, but the preparation for what God still has in store?
When God wanted to make David king, He did not immediately give him the crown. He gave him Goliath. When God wanted to lead Joseph to the top of Egypt, He did not immediately place him in a palace. He first had him thrown into a pit. When God wanted to make Moses the leader of His people, He gave him no helpers. He gave him Pharaoh. When God wanted to sharpen the voice of Jonah, He gave him no stage....
