MembersAmericanism Among Israeli Messianic Jews (Part 2)

Many claim Messianic Judaism started in America, but that ignores a rich history, and prevents an effective future

Israeli Messianic Yeshua-believers (IMYB), otherwise known as “Messianic Jews,” who grow up in the Land of Israel and accept the Son of God as their Savior and Lord must ask themselves how to shape their theological identity vis-a-vis the Hebrew and New Testament scriptures.

Sadly, however, as we learned in Part 1, for the most part, they are simply regurgitating traditional Christian dogma. Now we must ask:

  • With whom do IMYB choose to identify themselves?
  • What is their historical narrative as a movement?
  • Are they a movement originating with Abraham? The first ecclesia in Jerusalem? Judaism? Christianity?
  • How should they relate to the Torah and Law of Moses?
  • What is their place in Israel?

The puzzle of Messianic Jews has many pieces which need to be settled in order to properly comprehend the greater picture and define the movement’s place in history–past, present and future.
