I believe that divine providence was involved in reestablishing a Jewish collective presence in the Land of Israel.

However, the question that needs to be answered now is, what’s next? What does God expect from us living in the land?

There are voices that say that the project has yet to be completed. They assert that we must strive for settling all of the Land of Israel, and that it is our right and responsibility to do so. I disagree.

I believe that it is our calling—the generations that live in the era of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel—to live out Israel’s prophetic calling of being a light to the nations. We must bear the weighty responsibility of governing the land in a way that strives for moral practice and that emulates justice.

This requires the constant pursuit of peace with our neighbors even when it appears to be impossible. It demands that we love others as ourselves and that we treat those that are unlike us as equals, for we were once strangers...

  1. Mark Watkins says:

    Shalom Benyamim,

Awww, The utopian lefts dream’s never work out, as if we don’t have great examples of failed attempts, 70 years of communism imposed on the Russian people have taught the world nothing… The is one fact that remains, If there is one thing man has learned, it is he has learned nothing…

  2. Disciple 1978 says:

Let’s start with the land belongs to the Lord, (Is 65:9) Israel and others are its current stewards. The land will glorify God if managed in a godly way. But what about the people? The object of the exercise is to restore the image of God to mankind. This was lost by Adam and Eve in Eden but is restored as people become conformed to the last Adam and become Christ-like. (1 Cor 15:45; Rom 8:29) Israel was chosen as both the means by which this image would be restored and is a collective name for all who are conformed to that image. (Rom 8:29; Eph 2:12) The Lord himself undertakes this task. (Matt 16:18) Meanwhile Israel functions as a nation and relies on divine providence to flourish in a fallen world. She’s doing well but she’s entitled to be better supported by nations that already know the Lord.

  3. Lois Heal Bright says:

This portion of the article caught my attention: “…the people of Israel belong to the Land of Israel. More than one people can belong to this land.” It brought to mind Lev. 17, where three times Moses says, “Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you…” (vs. 8, 10, 13)
“..the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” (Isa. 59:1) God loves our world and has committed to us the word of reconciliation through Christ Jesus. (2 Cor. 5:19)
