MembersAn “Arab NATO” – A new threat to Israel?

Is an Arab defense alliance modeled after NATO currently forming?

Egypt’s President is loudly dreaming of a joint defense bloc including Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. Twenty thousand Egyptian soldiers are reportedly ready as the foundation. This plan is not new; the history of Arab military alliances is full of attempts and failures. But this time, the context is different. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has shown the Arab world with brutal clarity that it does not seek war but will wage it decisively if forced to. With courage, technology, and the will to survive, Tehran’s nuclear threat and its Shiite puppets (Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis) have been severely hit. The targeted strike against Hamas leadership in Doha was the culmination of this message. Israel has become the dominant military power in the Middle East. That’s why Arab governments are now reviving the old dream of an alliance that, in a serious case, would fight the “enemy.” Few ideas have been pursued so persistently and unsuccessfully by the Arab world. Could it become a danger to Israel?
