Great unrest among Palestinian Arabs erupted in Judea and Samaria starting last Thursday and there is now a real uprising going on against Palestinian Authority (PA) leader Mahmoud Abbas over the brutal murder of an anti-corruption activist.
Thousands of Palestinian Arabs took to the streets last week to demonstrate against the Abbas’ regime after anti-corruption activist Nizar Banat was beaten to death in his hometown of Dura.
About 25 members of the PA security forces broke into Banat’s home in the middle of the night and beat him with clubs and other objects after spraying him with pepper gas. Banat succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital according to Hebron Governor Jibreen al-Bakri.
Mass protests against Abbas regime
The demonstrations against Abbas and his regime started after pictures of Banat’s bruised dead body appeared on social media. Palestinian observers now say the incident resembles the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered at the Kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul, Turkey in 2018.
