The pledge to recognise a Palestinian state from the likely next British Prime Minister is clearly in appeasement to the not insubstantial Muslim vote.
But it is merely a continuation of the meek deference to Islamic sensibilities that has encouraged shameful anti-Israel protests on our streets since October 7th last year. And that’s under the Conservatives.
Competing parties have been unveiling their policies as the General Election draws closer, with various promises to put the country to rights as polls predict a Labour landslide.
But I am reminded of Proverbs 16:1:
“To man belongs the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.”
For the Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer, apparently in the driving seat, has decided to back the antisemites in an apparent effort to ensure support from the radical pro-Palestinian brigade.
He is thus proposing to reward Hamas terrorists for their unprovoked, sickening massacre of Jewish people.
In supporting those who wish to destroy Israel, he is saying the Jewish people do not deserve to live in peace, certainly not in their ancient land which is theirs by right – both through international treaty and biblical promise.
So much for distancing himself from the party’s previous leader Jeremy Corbyn. Does he not realise that he is touching the apple of God’s eye?
As a declared atheist, he may believe it acceptable to ignore the God factor. But every empire that has taken that route has in the end come to grief.
The Labour movement was founded on principles espoused by Keir Hardie, a devout Christian, after whom their current leader was deliberately named.
Socialism without God doesn’t work – it ends in tears. Just look at China, Russia, North Korea and the sad spectacle of South African politics in recent years. Anti-God mode becomes man-made dictatorship. Is that what we want?
The anti-Israel terrorists so beloved of our woke left are fighting a battle they ultimately can’t win because they are raging against the God of Israel, our Creator and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Former Hamas activist Mosab Hassan Yousef understands this well enough and has joined Israel’s efforts in denouncing the group’s “sick ideology”.
In a recent interview with i24 News, he said: “There is no chance for peace with Hamas – they must be finished. There is no alternative.”
Asked about the group’s goal, he said: “Hamas does not believe in this life.” It’s all about killing Jews and, if they die in the process, being rewarded for their efforts in the afterlife.
They see the Jewish people as “disobedient, inferior and enemies of Allah”. They are effectively a death cult, for killing is their mode of worship. How, he asks, could any sane, decent human being carry out the attacks of October 7th which included multiple rapes and the burning of a baby in an oven?
He had witnessed their brutality first hand and described their leader, Yahya Sinwar, as a “monster and deluded psychopath” who bragged about beheading a man on a prison sink.
He adds that the vast majority of Palestinians are complicit with Hamas, having first voted for them and then failing to condemn their atrocities.
For the record, Hamas (meaning violence in Arabic) is a Sunni Islamist terrorist organization currently operating as the de facto leadership of the Gaza Strip.
Founded in 1988 during the First Intifada (uprising) as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas set itself two long-term goals, articulated in its charter: the end to the Jewish state and the creation of an Islamic state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.
With over 100 hostages still in captivity, how can politicians justify calling for a ceasefire? Israel, however, would be fully justified for adopting Winston Churchill’s stirring call never to surrender to such brazen Nazi-lookalike tyranny.
The Jewish people this week celebrate the feast of Shavuot that Christians know as Pentecost. They remember the Ten Commandments given to Moses, which set the course for an ordered, civilized world of man living according to God’s instructions. Traditionally, at this time, the Book of Ruth is read, telling how a Gentile woman came humbly to serve God’s chosen people – even helping with their harvest.
Where are the Gentile nations ready to help and serve Israel today? The alternative is too shocking to contemplate. As Isaiah prophesied:
“For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined.” (Isaiah 60:12)
