He loved comparing the political processes to biblical history and politics. Perhaps it is important and necessary, especially in these days of protests and calls for refusal to serve, to read his political and biblical account of Israel’s Defense Forces.
He once related that “we fought more than once with Egypt, with Assyria, with Babylon and with Syria during Bible times. But these peoples never attacked us at the same time. “Israel’s enemies are the same as before,” stressed Ben-Gurion.”
Israel’s enemies are God’s enemies. “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4) Whatever is worldly is an enemy of God, this would include all nations and peoples as well as those mentioned. Abraham was a friend of God. (Jam 2:23) Israel will be surprised to learn that Jacob was an enemy of God before his conversion to Israel. (Gen 32:25) This should’ve told them that all Adam’s offspring are natural enemies of God and that all need God’s redemption to become friends with God.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
