Some worry that not enough effort is made to bring together the different peoples inhabiting Israel, namely Jews and Arabs.

To help remedy that situation, Citipass, the operator of Jerusalem’s light rail, is encouraging passengers to use their time on the train to learn a little Arabic. To kick off the initiative, the trains in Jerusalem were adorned with posters offering simple Arabic phrases and their Hebrew translations.

Jerusalem’s light rail was initially touted as a means of promoting coexistence between the city’s Jewish and non-Jewish populations.
