The two Israelis killed during the predawn hours on Wednesday when a terrorist rocket fired from Gaza hit the central Israel city of Lod were Arab Muslims.

The victims were identified as Halil Awad, 52, and his 16-year-old daughter, Nadine. Halil’s wife was also in the car and was seriously wounded.

The family had gone out during the predawn hours for a quick meal before the start of the daily Ramadan fast.

Lod Mayor Yair Revivo noted that “Hamas missiles do not differentiate between Jews and Arabs.”

Lod and the nearby city of Ramla, both mixed Jewish-Arab cities, have been the scene of extreme Muslim violence in recent days, including the burning of local synagogues, schools and public buildings.

Mayor Revivo pleaded with local Muslims to halt their violence: “We will still have to live here together.”
