According to the IDF, several armed terrorists were identified and targeted while moving near Israeli troops and posing an immediate threat. The army said the terrorists were “eliminated to remove the danger.”
In another incident on Saturday evening, soldiers from the IDF’s 188th “Barak” Armored Brigade killed the terrorist Ahmed Faiz Salem Abu Rida, who had been arrested during the war but was released in February 2025 as part of the hostage exchange with Hamas.
“Abu Rida systematically violated the terms of the agreement, including by repeatedly crossing the Yellow Line, transferring funds to individuals suspected of engaging in terrorist activity, and posing a threat to Israeli soldiers,” the army said.

Return to terror after release
Israeli security officials have pointed out for years that some released prisoners return to terrorist activity after their release. In previous deals, hundreds of convicted terrorists were released—many of them with a history of serious violence.
The current operation once again confirms those concerns.
The IDF stressed that operations in the Gaza Strip will continue in order to “neutralize any immediate threat.” Israeli units are operating both in the north and south of the territory against Hamas infrastructure.
In addition to targeted killings of terrorists, weapons depots, tunnels, and operational infrastructure are also being struck. The aim is to significantly weaken Hamas’s military capabilities.
