The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday night released the names of two soldiers killed in combat in Southern Lebanon during the previous 24 hours.
Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, 21, of Herzliya, served in the 52nd Battalion of the 401st Armored Brigade. He was killed overnight Friday when his tank came under attack. Three other soldiers were also killed in the same incident.
One of them had already been identified as Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, 32, from Kibbutz Beit HaShita. The names of the two remaining soldiers have not yet been cleared for publication.
The IDF also named Master Sgt. Nir Ben Ari, 21, from Moshav Kerem Maharal, a soldier in the Maglan Unit of the Commando Brigade, as having been killed in Southern Lebanon.
According to the military, two soldiers were critically wounded and an officer was moderately wounded by enemy fire in the same incident in which Ben Ari fell. The IDF did not provide further details on the timing of that engagement.
The wounded soldiers were transported for medical treatment, and their families have been informed, the military said.
