The Israel Defense Forces on Friday published previously unreleased body camera footage from a February 2024 hostage rescue mission in southern Gaza, marking two years since the operation.

On Feb. 12, 2024, elite troops from the Israeli Navy’s Shayetet 13 and the General Staff’s Mobility Unit 5515 carried out a joint nighttime raid in Rafah that freed hostages Luis Har and Fernando Marman. The mission was conducted in coordination with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and was given the code name “Golden Hand.”

According to the IDF, the newly released footage captures moments from the evacuation drive out of Gaza after the two men were extracted from Hamas captivity.

Har and Marman had been held for 129 days following their abduction during the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas-led assault on southern Israel.

Har was taken from Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak along with his girlfriend and other relatives during the cross-border attack.

In previously shared testimony, Har recalled the moment Israeli forces reached him. He said a soldier pushed his head down and told him, “Luis, IDF. We’re coming to take you home.”

The operation was one of several high-risk rescue efforts conducted by Israeli forces during the war that followed the Oct. 7 attacks.
