Following Iranian missile attacks on Jordan, the Israeli army issued an unusual early warning for the south of the country on Sunday. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that sirens could sound in the Eilat area and the Arava region. The reason given was that Iranian missiles, whose trajectories or debris could reach Israeli territory, were the cause. The population was urged to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.

The warning was issued as a precautionary measure, as it could not be ruled out that rockets or debris from intercepted projectiles might reach Israeli territory. According to the IDF, the situation was being continuously monitored.

Jordanian authorities confirmed that several Iranian missiles had entered their airspace. According to official statements, the kingdom’s air defenses intercepted several missiles. Warning sirens were activated in various parts of the country.

The attacks come against the backdrop of ongoing US airstrikes on military targets in Iran. In response, Tehran has repeatedly targeted American bases and US allies in the region.

According to the Israeli news portal Walla, the Israeli Air Force fired two Iron Dome interceptor missiles at debris from Iranian missiles that reached the border area following the attack on the Jordanian port city of Aqaba. An Israeli security official told the portal that it could not be ruled out that the Iranian missile launches were also intended as a signal to Israel. Israeli police have launched a search operation. So far, no injuries or property damage have been reported.

Even though the Iranian attack targeted Jordan, the incident underscores the immediate impact of regional escalation on Israel. Due to its proximity to the Jordanian border, even rockets or debris from intercepted projectiles can pose a threat to the south of the country. Security forces therefore urged the population to continue closely monitoring instructions from the Home Front Command.
