Israeli security forces eliminated a terrorist cell in Samaria on Tuesday. The terrorists belonged to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an armed wing of the Fatah movement that rules the Palestinian Authority. According to the Israeli army, the cell’s members were responsible for at least four attacks on Jewish settlers as well as attacks on soldiers in the past few weeks.

The operation, which was carried out in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Nablus (Biblical Shechem) on Tuesday morning, involved forces from the IDF, the Border Police special forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).

Defense Minister Benny Gantz hailed the security forces and said he had recently ordered increased anti-terror operations in the area. “We will continue our operations and thwart any attempt to endanger human life and catch the perpetrators,” he said.

In a statement shared on social media via a Fatah-affiliated group, the militant group called the three men “heroic martyrs” and vowed to exact revenge.
