
That’s why our liberal societies, Israel’s included, have worked so hard to paint the Israeli-Arab conflict as purely a matter of nationalism. Even the term “Israeli-Arab conflict” is part of this effort. In truth, it is a Jewish-Islamic conflict, since the whole of the Islamic world, both Arabs and nonArabs, stand opposed not to the whole of Israel’s citizenry, but to its ruling Jewish majority
And, of course, no part of this conflict is more religiously relevant than Jerusalem, the Holy City itself.
