“If a war is started against us, we will triumph overwhelmingly,” Israel’s Prime Minister said during a visit to the Israel Air Force (IAF) base in Palmachim in the south of the country. “What I saw here today at the IAF base are the best of people, using state-of-the arts weaponry ensuring our military dominance,” he said.
During his tour of the secure Palmachim Airbase, the IAF soldiers surprised the Prime Minister with a celebration on his 70th birthday.
Netanyahu was accompanied by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and Commander of the IAF Maj.-Gen. Amikam Norkin. Netanyahu received security reviews on the Drone Squadron and spoke with the different unit commanders at the base. Afterwards, the Prime Minister viewed exhibitions highlighting IAF capabilities.
Prime Minister Netanyahu said at the end of the tour:
“We have completed a very impressive review of the IAF base. I see our best youth and the best of our men and women who are flying aircraft day and night in the fight against our enemies – both in Iran and over a very wide arena.
“The achievements are very impressive and new developments are still to come.
“I would also like to thank you for acknowledging my birthday in a beautiful and very moving way. I would like to congratulate President Trump on the impressive achievement that led to the assassination of the head of ISIS, al-Bagdadi. It reflects our common determination with the United States and all free nations to fight the terrorist organizations and terrorist states. This achievement is an important milestone, but the fight is still in very much in front of us.”
After thanking the IDF Chief of Staff and IAF Commander, the Prime Minister said that the Israel Air Force is “really the tip of the spear” in the “great battle” against our enemies. “You are a major part of this campaign, and I want to thank you in the name of the citizens of Israel,” he said.
