What do the charming Rachel Edry from the small town of Ofakim, about 25 km as the crow flies from Gaza, and the famous Israeli actress Gal Gadot have in common?

They both appear as “Wonder Woman.” One in the film and the other in real life, which is much more significant, as the events of October 7, 2023 in the small town of Ofakim teach us.

 

The terrorist attack in Ofakim

The 64-year-old grandmother Rachel immigrated to Israel from Morocco with her parents and therefore also speaks Arabic. On that fateful day, she and her husband David, who had a heart condition, were surprised early in the morning by five Hamas terrorists who had entered their bedroom through a window on the ground floor. Pretending to be the police, the armed Arabic-speaking men quickly took control. They destroyed the phone, interrogated the couple and searched the apartment.
