“This is a good thing,” Rabbi Yomtov Hakohen told Israel Today. “I think that this war can encourage the Jews that remain there to make Aliyah and come to Israel. When the Messiah will come, we have to see that all nations will be in peace with each other, and the people of the world will be at peace with Israel. For the Messiah to come, all of the Jews have to be in Israel. Now, this war will push the Jews there to come here. There are many ways to push you to come here. We want no war or bloodshed in any part of the world. We are still waiting for the Messiah and a time when the peace will reign worldwide.”

In a similar vein, the Chabad movement issued the following statement: “We pray for the safety of our Jewish brethren in Ukraine along with all of the people in the affected areas. We pray for a peaceful resolution to this conflict. We pray that the people affected have the strength...
