Something is “happening” outside now. The air is filled with a wonderful scent of blossom. The sun asks to stay a little longer each day, and everything is filled with colors and life. Just open your eyes, raise your head, open the windows of your home and your heart; and let Spring in.
Spring is not just a season.
It’s an offer.
A gentle invitation to start anew. To renew.
To blossom.
Spring affects the soul and the desire to move. Nature does not wonder whether to blossom. It simply does it. But we sometimes forget this natural action. In humans, blossoming and renewal require attunement, faith and sometimes courage.
Spring consists of:
- Longer daylight hours,
- Transformation in nature
- And changes in the air
Spring is a good time to start a new process, because it brings with it a sense of expansion and new possibilities. It is not just a seasonal change but a reminder that even the deepest, most frozen things can reawaken. Spring teaches us about natural, organic growth, at a pace that is right for us. When we allow ourselves to move at this pace, not too fast, not too slow; then we too begin to feel our blossoming. Sometimes, all it takes is one ray of light entering through the right crack; and from there, the path opens on its own. This requires courageous introspection. It requires inner cleansing, examining emotions and issues that weigh us down, and making room for prosperity and blossoming in their place.
Spending a day in nature or looking out at a view, reduces stress, raises vitality levels, and puts life into more reasonable proportions:
Small changes make big waves – even one change.
Like getting up early in the morning and dedicating time to prayer. Or starting to talk honestly about my feelings. Or maybe taking a break from the hustle and bustle. Sometimes one action we start to set in motion can create an engine for a great process without us noticing.
This period, when everything is renewed around us, is a powerful reminder to direct our lives to a place that is light and not heavy, and to genuine joy.
Like children who suddenly jump into the waves because the sunshine finally feels warm enough — we too can choose for a moment to be free and feel this natural happiness that comes “barefoot” – whether walking in nature, by sea or pool, or in a balcony/yard.
So whether we decide to plant basil or geraniums. Or perhaps start studying and delving deeper into the scriptures. Or a moment before we initiate an important conversation that we have postponed for a long time. Or a moment before we let Spring come in, let’s remove the heaviness of winter and cold and allow the lightness of the Spring air inside us.
Because just like the trees and the flowers and all of nature, we too, as part of creation and as part of nature, are meant to flourish.
