Israel this time has caught Hamas off guard by renewing hostilities in the Gaza Strip during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Israel’s overnight airstrikes surprised the Gaza Strip and how – right in the middle of Ramadan. This had to happen after the Israeli delegation failed to achieve a breakthrough in negotiations over the continuation of the hostage deal. Not only that, according to Israeli sources, Hamas was planning to attack communities within Israel in the very near future. Government sources in Jerusalem stated that the decision was fully coordinated with Washington and President Donald Trump.

The new administration in Washington is not to be trifled with. Trump and his team have warned Hamas several times, but Hamas has decided to play with the Republican government as it did with the previous government under Joe Biden. It is quite possible that Hamas does not yet fully understand the difference between Biden and Trump, as well as between Democrats and Republicans.
