Yemenite pirates are up to mischief at the Bab el Mandeb, translated as “Gate of Lamentation” or “Gate of Tears,” and are frustrating the entire world. The Houthis are neither a military nor a naval power. Their only advantage is their geographical location between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea with the Suez Canal in between. And pirates know how to go crazy and cause chaos. Israel and Jerusalem were the triggers for the madness in the Red Sea.

With $100 a month per Houthi and the slogan “Jerusalem and the Palestinians are in danger,” the Yemenite fighters were mobilized by the Persians against Israel. But in recent weeks the Persians appear to have lost control of the Houthis. The Houthis anger other countries more than Israel. In the Middle East, everything is connected to everything else, and in this case the Houthis may jeopardize Israel’s peace agreement with Egypt.
