On the first day, the people of Israel left Egypt. On the seventh, they stood at the Red Sea, where the miracle of the sea’s parting took place. What is the difference between these two miracles? In the Exodus from Egypt, Israel was freed from the limits of nature. Blood, frogs, lice: the ten plagues showed how the very order of the world begins to tremble when Israel moves from bondage into freedom. When God leads someone out of slavery, nothing seems impossible anymore.
But then comes the seventh day, and the sea. A seemingly endless obstacle, a boundary with no visible way through. And it is precisely there that it becomes clear: this sea, too, can open. Nothing can stop Israel when it seeks life. Nothing can stop a person when he must break free from inner chains, fears, and hardships.
We are living in a time when, once again, we see that the road to freedom is not a straight one. Even today, Israel faces challenges that look like a sea—vast, threatening, seemingly impossible to overcome. And yet history shows: nothing can stop a people determined to live. With God’s help, all things are possible.
That is why this Passover week is not only a remembrance; it is also a call. A call not merely to watch Israel, but to understand it and stand with it. Especially now, voices are needed that can explain, report, and offer perspective.
We work every day to bring Israel’s story to the world with depth, responsibility, and journalistic integrity. If our work matters to you, we invite you to support it. What is five dollars a month—an espresso finished in a few minutes? Or meaningful, lasting insight from Israel that helps explain and understand what is really happening? More and more people are choosing exactly that.
