After 614 days of war in Gaza, US President Donald Trump appears to have had enough. The phone call he held with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week was tense—despite Trump later telling reporters the conversation was “excellent.”

In reality, it was anything but. Trump urgently pressed Netanyahu to end the war. “The Gaza offensive has run its course. Finish it. Not just because of Witkoff, but because it’s harming us with Iran and Saudi Arabia. Aim for an end.” Trump’s message was clear: “I’ve given you six months of full backing—now it’s over. It’s time to move on.”

Then the topic of Iran came up, revealing that the two leaders are not on the same page. While both agree that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons, they differ on the approach.
