Kiev is calling on Israelis of Ukrainian background who have competed their Israel Defense Force (IDF) service to come volunteer in the fight against the invading Russians.

Over the weekend, the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel posted to Facebook an urgent call for volunteers to defense the country, as reported by N12.

The message, written in Ukrainian, read:

“Dear brothers, citizens of Israel, and all those currently living in the country, we have begun compiling a list of those interested in participating in the defense of Ukraine from Russian military aggression. Those who are willing to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine should contact us and provide personal details and relevant military experience. We will issue further instructions.”

The post has since been removed from the embassy’s Facebook page. Israel no doubt has a problem with its citizens being called to war abroad, especially as Jerusalem is trying to maintain a semblance of neutrality in this particular conflict.
