Undeterred Jewish Groups Ascend Temple Mount Amid Passover Violence

Unprecedented rocket fire on Israel from three different fronts could be prelude to major attack by Iran and its proxies.

A group of several dozen religious Jews ascended the Temple Mount on Sunday morning, as thousands more gathered at the Western Wall below for the Priestly Blessing that is part of the Passover holiday.

Religious Zionist rabbis have urged the government to open the gates of the Temple Mount and facilitate full freedom of religion for Jews (and Christians) at Judaism’s holiest site. Leading Orthodox rabbis released a statement calling on religious Jews to be wary of Islamic threats of violence and avoid the Temple Mount.

But even the small number of Jews ascending the Temple Mount was more than enough for the Muslim masses to react violently.

Clashes between Ramadan “worshippers” and Israeli security forces have been ongoing atop the Temple Mount for the past several days. And that has in turn given groups like Hamas the flimsy excuse they needed to launch rockets at Israel.

Only this time Hamas has opened a new front, firing at least 34 missiles at northern Israel from neighboring Lebanon, under the auspices of the Lebanese terrorist militia Hezbollah.

Overnight a third front was opened when terrorist forces operating out of Syria fired at least six rockets at the Golan Heights. Several landed in open areas, two were reportedly intercepted by Iron Dome, and at least one landed in Jordanian territory.

And amid all of this Israel is suffering an increase in Arab terrorist attacks against its citizens. Two British-Israeli sisters were killed and their mother critically wounded in a terrorist shooting in the Jordan Valley last week, and over the weekend an Italian tourist was killed in a car ramming attack in Tel Aviv.

What’s worse is that intelligence sources suggest this might be just the beginning. Both Israel and the US assess that Iran, which is the patron of groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, is planning a major attack somewhere in the Middle East in the very near future. Rocket attacks on Israel from three different fronts could very well be a prelude to that Iranian action.
