The mini-war was once again widely regarded as a local conflict between Israel and the Palestinian national movement, but the bigger picture reveals a much larger, regional, conflict that is overseen by the regime in Iran.

“Never a dull moment” is often said in Israel about the complicated situation in the Jewish state.

This became very topical again last Friday when the Israeli Air Force was forced to launch a preemptive strike against Palestinian Islamic Jihad commanders and terrorists who were about to carry out an attack with an anti-tank missile. The mini-war that subsequently developed was once again regarded by a majority of the international media as a local conflict between Israel and the Palestinian national movement. However, if you take a look at the bigger picture, you see a much larger regional conflict that is overseen by the regime in Tehran, Iran as we will see.

The run-up to the mini war

After a period of almost four months, during which the Israeli army (IDF) stepped up its actions against the terrorist movement, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a new mini-war with the jihadist organization broke out in Gaza last Friday afternoon.
