For the past several weeks, Washington has been moaning about sporadic incidents of small groups of Jews living in Judea and Samaria (so-called “settlers”) fighting back against their Palestinian Arab antagonists.
“Settler violence” has become the new mantra in the White House, ignoring why those settlers are so up-in-arms.
But even more egregious than turning a blind eye to the cause leading to the effect is the fact that America is now working to bankroll the Palestinian terrorism that elicits the settler reprisals.
And Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen tried to suggest as much, subtly, when he spoke to the Biden Administration late last month.
While condemning any and all cases in which Israeli citizens take the law into their own hands, Cohen told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Iran is behind the rise in Palestinian terrorism in Samaria, which, again, is the cause leading to the effect of “settler” violence.

In other words, if America wants to lower the flames, it should cut off the gas, not try to throw a bucket of water on a burning stove.
But the Biden White House is doing the opposite. It is working to enact a new Iran nuclear deal that will unfreeze billions in Iranian assets which Israel fears Tehran will immediately pump into its regional terrorist network, including in Samaria.
Cohen hinted at this double standard in his response to Blinken. Let’s hope the message was received..
