An Israeli man was seriously wounded on Monday in a car-ramming and stabbing terrorist attack near a naval base in the northern city of Haifa.
According to reports, a car drove into the 20-year-old man, after which the perpetrator got out and attacked him with an axe.
Magen David Adom emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene for injuries to his lower body before evacuating him to Rambam Medical Center in the city.
The hospital’s deputy director-general, Dr. Avi Weissman, said the victim was sedated and intubated in the trauma center and would undergo a series of surgeries.
Soldiers stationed at the base shot and neutralized the terrorist, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The terrorist is reportedly an Arab Israeli from Tamra in the Lower Galilee.

Two weeks ago, 79-year-old Edna Blustein was killed and 17 other people were wounded in a combined car-ramming and stabbing attack in the central city of Ra’anana.
Police arrested two Palestinian suspects, identified as Mahmoud Zidat, 44, and his nephew, Ahmed. Both were residents of Bani Naim, near Hebron. Despite not having work permits and being blacklisted from entering Israel by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) as security risks, the two men had jobs at a Ra’anana car wash.
Earlier Monday, Israel Defense Forces troops foiled a Palestinian stabbing attack between Efrat and Tekoa in the Gush Etzion region of Judea.
According to reports, security personnel shot and neutralized the 16-year-old terrorist.
No Israelis were injured in the attack.
Since Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre of some 1,200 persons living near the Gaza border, Israeli security forces have arrested more than 2,650 wanted Palestinian terrorism suspects in Judea and Samaria, of whom around 1,300 are associated with Hamas.
Two IDF soldiers wounded by Hezbollah rocket attack
In related news, two Israel Defense soldiers were lightly wounded by a Hezbollah rocket near the Israel-Lebanon border on Monday, according to Hebrew-language media.
The pair were evacuated to hospital in stable condition.
Hezbollah claimed to have fired heavy “Burkan” rockets at the Biranit military base located along the frontier.
Later, rocket sirens sounded in Rosh Hanikra on the northern border.
In response, Israeli forces were reportedly shelling Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
On Sunday, Israeli fighter jets attacked two Hezbollah military sites near the Leabnese villages of Zibqin and Khula. In addition, the army fired artillery “to remove a threat against several areas in Southern Lebanon.”

Israel told the United States late last month that the time frame to distance Hezbollah from the border via a diplomatic agreement was the end of January.
Citing a Western diplomat and three Lebanese officials, the report noted however that the Israeli government had not set a “hard deadline.”
The IDF continues to prepare for the possible outbreak of full-blown war with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist group.
Last week, soldiers from the IDF’s 226th Reserve Paratroopers Brigade, aka the Northern Brigade, and combat engineering forces performed training exercises focused on combat “in densely populated urban areas, winter weather conditions, and in the northern terrain,” the IDF said on Saturday.
Hezbollah launched a low-intensity conflict against the Jewish state in the aftermath of Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre, firing rockets, drones and anti-tank missiles at northern Israeli cities on a near-daily basis and forcing the evacuation of some 80,000 civilians from their homes.
The Iranian terror proxy has killed six Israeli civilians and nine IDF soldiers since the start of the war. More than 170 Hezbollah terrorists have been killed since hostilities escalated, including four on Friday in Israeli strikes on Southern Lebanon in response to earlier rocket fire.
