Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed for a visit to the United States in the early hours of Thursday, with the highlights being his speech to the UN General Assembly on Friday and a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday. This will be the fourth meeting between the two since Trump took office—and perhaps the most significant of all.
Netanyahu travelled on the “Kanfei Zion” (Wings of Zion) aircraft, but unlike previous trips, he did not bring journalists along, and parts of his usual entourage also remained behind. The reason is the need to extend the flight route to avoid countries that, due to the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, do not permit overflights—thus requiring more fuel.
Netanyahu will speak on Friday at 9:00 a.m. New York time (4:00 p.m. Israel time). By this point, most heads of state and government will have already left the city after speaking earlier in the week....
