Sometimes a journey doesn’t begin with a grand plan, but with a rupture, a flight, a moment of utter uncertainty. And it is precisely there that the space opens up for faith and inner growth. That is exactly what happened to Abraham’s grandson in this week’s portion.
Jacob leaves his parents’ home in Beersheba. He abandons a familiar place and sets out into the unknown. What at first looks like an escape is in reality the beginning of his journey of faith. Because genuine change never happens inside the comfort zone. Growth demands movement – beyond the boundaries of the familiar, beyond the stories that once protected us but later held us captive.
I believe that anyone who has the courage to embark on a journey (and it doesn’t have to be a physical one) discovers themselves, their strength, their faith, and their connection to God with far greater clarity.
