The Israeli Army completed a large-scale anti-terror operation in the Jabal Johar neighborhood of Hebron on Friday. During the operation, 14 terror suspects were arrested and numerous weapons were seized. According to the military, the goal of the operation was to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and neutralize concrete threats to Israel’s security.

The operation spanned several days and focused on a densely built urban neighborhood that has repeatedly served in the past as a hideout and operational base for armed Palestinian groups. According to military reports, the deployed units searched approximately 350 buildings after the area had been completely sealed off beforehand. The operation was coordinated and carried out by various army units.

During the searches, the soldiers secured eight firearms, including M4 and M16 assault rifles, several pistols, as well as dozens of knives and other weapons. In addition, military equipment was discovered that points to logistical support for terrorist activities. All finds were confiscated, and the arrested suspects were handed over to the security authorities for further interrogation.

According to the army’s assessment, the suspects were either directly involved in terrorist activities or part of a network that supported weapons storage, distribution, and operational preparation. The security forces emphasized that illegal weapons trade in the region in particular plays a central role in the planning and execution of attacks.

The operation is part of an ongoing preventive security strategy in Judea and Samaria. Terror structures are to be identified and dismantled as early as possible, before attacks can occur. Especially in densely populated urban areas, this requires a high personnel and intelligence effort.

Hebron has been considered one of the most sensitive flashpoints in the security situation for years. Terror attacks, attempted assassinations, and clashes between Israeli security forces and armed Palestinians occur there repeatedly. The city also plays a central role in the illegal weapons trade within Judea and Samaria.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir emphasized the strategic importance of such operations during a visit to the deployed forces. The consistent dismantling of terrorist infrastructure is crucial to restrict the operational freedom of militant groups and to stabilize the security situation in the long term.

In recent months, the IDF has further intensified its anti-terror operations in Judea and Samaria. The background is a persistently tense security situation as well as attempts by various groups to build new weapons depots and operational structures. The army announced that it will continue to act decisively against any form of terrorist activity to ensure the security of the Israeli population.
