Some, like Avi Salman, are little-known outside their own milieu. Others, like Moshe Leon and Minister of Environmental Protection Ze’ev Elkin, are better known, though not necessarily better liked. Israel Today met with Avi Salman, presently the candidate least likely to win, though that doesn’t make him any less seasoned than the often-cynical public figures with whom he’s competing. Salman strikes me as too young to be cynical, and if nothing else, that in itself is refreshing.
Salman (38) has lived his whole life in Jerusalem, and has never held a job other than working for the Jerusalem Municipality. His career was jump-started when he joined the 2008 election campaign of current-Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. In 2017, he resigned from the municipality and was the first to announce his candidacy for the office.
