It’s titled Bereshit – In the Beginning.
Just recently we began a new Jewish calendar year, which means starting again the cycle of weekly Torah readings beginning with the book Bereshit (Genesis). It is my favorite book of the Bible. Genesis is so full of personal stories, picturesque scenery and human relationships. It powerfully reveals what true faith is.
The book of Genesis also kindles our imagination. Paradise, the place where God created man and his wife, the beginning of humanity, is also the place to which all humanity wants to return.
This moving song was written by Ehud Manor, one of modern Israel’s most talented poets. Manor wrote countless poems and Hebrew songs. Unfortunately, Ehud Manor left us 13 years ago at the age of 64.
