Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu again addressed the growing Iranian threat to Israel and world peace at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday.
The Israeli leader spoke about the most recent report on Iran’s nuclear program by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, which showed that the Islamic Republic is breaching all of its obligations under the 2015 landmark nuclear deal (JCPOA), but he could have mentioned Iran’s increasingly belligerent activities in Syria, as well.
No, Iran is not retreating from Syria as former Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett claimed in the middle of May.
Iranian insiders and sources in Syria say that the regime of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has merely changed tactics, not strategy, and has built up a huge force of pro-Iranian Shiite militias along the Jordanian and Israeli borders on the Golan Heights.
As we will see, the Iranians are still playing their favorite game of using proxies and dominating foreign regimes in order to advance their most important goal: the liquidation of the State of Israel.
