Something is stirring in Tehran – under the Persian rug. Behind the scenes of the mullah regime, a new way of thinking about power is taking shape. Influential circles – including senior military officers, businesspeople, and members of prominent clerical families – are currently devising a scenario for Iran’s future without Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to Iranian sources, there is consideration of bringing former President Hassan Rouhani into a key role – possibly as a mediator in negotiations to end the escalating war. “Tehran is currently full of such intrigues,” an insider reports. Even if Khamenei remains in office formally, he “de facto no longer holds real power.” Another source from Tehran describes the situation more starkly: “No one ever thought Iran could be hit this hard.”
These statements align with reports from the opposition broadcaster Iran International, which noted several unauthorized flights from Tehran and other airports – despite the airspace being officially closed.
