Three weeks after Black Shabbat, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for the destruction of the Hamas regime, citing God’s commandment regarding the Amalekites. Yes, Israel wants to erase the memory of Hamas from under heaven.
“Our soldiers will bravely and powerfully fight an enemy more ferocious than any other,” Netanyahu emphasized. “Remember what the Amalekites have done to you! We remember, and fight Amalek now. Our armed forces are determined to eliminate this evil from the world, for the benefit of our existence and for the benefit of humanity. Israel’s soldiers are part of a 3,000-year legacy. We will defeat the murderous enemy and secure our place in our land. We always said: Never again! And never again is now.”

Israel has had to learn a very painful lesson for giving up Gaza in 2005. They mistakenly believed it would bring peace but instead it has brought war. Like Amalek Hamas must be eradicated. There is no other solution. Israel will retain ongoing security for the remaining Palestinians. If 43% of the residents there don’t support Hamas (as opposed to the 57% who do) then that is a good starting point to expand cooperation through re-education.
