To be woke in a world full of hatred seems like the most loving thing to do – until the definition of love is challenged and 1 Corinthians 13 cuts through the hardest of conscience.

For those of you wondering what the term ‘woke’ means, here is the definition according to the dictionary:

Woke means being conscious of racial discrimination in society and other forms of oppression and injustice. In mainstream use, woke can also more generally describe someone or something as being “with it.”

As far as I understand, being part of the Woke movement is not limited to race or gender, but is an all-inclusive club where anyone can be a member.

Although the term woke is mainly associated with Black Lives Matter, it has spread into other social justice movements and now generally means, in my own loose definition: a person who accepts everyone, regardless of race, skin color, sexual orientation, or preference.

Not only has the term spread within other human rights organizations in the West, but also within pop culture amongst celebrities and politicians.

And as with any popular trend, the secular “God makes no mistakes, baby I was born this way” anthem has made its way overseas to Israel.
