What happened yesterday in Russia should be an urgent wake-up call to Israel. For several harrowing hours, it appeared that a civil war would erupt in the nuclear-armed superpower. A civil war in Israel has been a nightmare of Israeli society for months. The Israeli media is talking about the uprising in Russia non-stop, including numerous interviews with Russian Israelis who live there part of the time, presenting a different angle via private sources.

After Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin launched his revolt against President Vladimir Putin by occupying important military bases in southern Russia, an ominous development took place: According to Israeli sources, international intelligence services asked Israeli intelligence to urgently brief them on Russia’s nuclear facilities and capabilities.

In a televised speech, Putin spoke of treason. The uprising was a “stab in the back” of the Russian people. Those who took part in the mutiny will be punished, and anyone who takes up arms against the Russian army is a traitor. “We will win and get stronger,” Putin insisted. Prigozhin fired back: “I am not a traitor, Putin is the traitor,” as his Wagner troops moved to within 300 kilometers of Moscow.

From Russian sources in Israel, a friend originally from Moscow sent us the following: “You don’t understand what’s going on online now on Russian military forums, Russians are cursing Putin and calling for Putin to be killed. Not many people understand that the rebels, Wagner’s mercenaries, are much more popular among rank and file than the command of the Russian Ministry of Defense. I have never read such statements on Russian military forums.” He and other sources told us that entire battalions of Russian soldiers were joining the Wagner force.

Russia suspects that the US, Great Britain and Israel are behind the Wagner coup. This could have significant negative implications for Israel. Russian state television and mouthpiece RT said this afternoon that the US, Britain and “maybe a country in the Middle East” are behind the Wagner Group mercenary uprising. This was a clear reference to Israel, which Moscow has severely criticized for not taking sides against Ukraine.

Residents of Moscow reportedly received calls from unknown numbers identifying as “PMC Wagner” urging them to support Wagner troops and take to the streets on Sunday morning in a demonstration against Putin. There are currently 70,000 Israelis in Russia, and they urgently want to get out.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with his security cabinet the moment Shabbat came to an end to discuss developments in Russia, which have a direct impact on our region, in particular with regards to Syria and Iran. Meanwhile, a voice from Tehran promises to be Putin’s salvation: “We saved Assad, we will also save Putin,” vowed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to Iranian sources, Shia militias in Syria intend to cross over to Russia to fight alongside the Russian army and rescue Putin. If true, Israel will no doubt take advantage of the new situation in Syria. What is happening in Russia now is a danger to us all.

One response to “Israel and the Almost Russian Civil War”

  1. Mark Watkins says:

Amazing set of events and of course RT head would accuse Israel of complicity, rumor has it that Prigozhin had no plans on marching to Moscow, and the recent story of how the pentagon found six billion dollars in accounting errors that was told to be going to Ukraine… Looks like it may have wound up going into Prigozhin’s, Putin’s pockets, (6.2 Billion)? The story goes on to say the plan was revealed to Putin and as the story goes, it was reported that Prigozhin met with Ukrainian Intelligence, CIA operatives questionable, Yes, plausible, no….

Lot’s more to see behind this ruse and or plan…
