There is “a time of war and a time of peace.” Israel has proven over nearly three years that it can fight. Now the country faces what may be the more difficult task: building from military victories a future that makes this struggle worthwhile. For the true victory begins where people return home and children play in the streets again.
Israel has changed the strategic reality in the Middle East. And yet Israel is approaching a fourth year of war, with virtually all fronts remaining open: the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and not least Judea and Samaria. The decisive question is therefore no longer only: How does Israel win wars? But rather: How does Israel return from war to life? The Bible knows this transition very well. Israel now needs political leadership that recognizes when military successes must be translated into a new strategic reality. Because a nation cannot permanently live in a state of war.
