Hollywood star Jon Voight was moved to tears on Wednesday upon receiving a bottle of wine from the head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan. The award-winning actor and Bible-believing Christian exclaimed, “This is Jeremiah’s prophecy fulfilled!”

Voight was in Samaria, the northern part of the so-called “West Bank,” to tour the Biblical landscape and meet with members of the Samaria Film Fund. While there, he was taken up to Mitzpe Yosef, an outpost from where one can see the tomb of the Biblical patriarch Joseph in the town of Nablus (Shechem) below.

Dagan explained to Voight that for centuries the Muslims and other occupiers were unable to make fruitful the mountains of Samaria. It was only upon the return of the Jewish people that the area began to again flourish and produce internationally-acclaimed wines.

Dagan presented Voight with a bottle of wine from the nearby Jewish community of Har Bracha and said, “What I hold in my hand is not just a bottle of wine… this is Jeremiah’s prophecy fulfilled.”

Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and shall enjoy the fruit. Jeremiah 31:5

“Do you understand what is happening here?” Voight said in response as he brushed back a tear. “This is Jeremiah’s prophecy! Thousands of years ago he predicted this region would produce wine,” he added before embracing Dagan.

Voight stressed that he didn’t like hearing people call the area the “West Bank,” noting that both in terms of the Bible and strategic modern realities, “this is the heart of the Land of Israel.”

See in the following video as Yossi Dagan explains that not until the Jewish return did the mountains of Samaria begin to produce fruit and wine. Unable to hold back tears, Voight exclaims that this is Jeremiah’s prophecy fulfilled:
