
Thousands of young people came out for the “Festival in a Sweater” this weekend. A ton of warm clothing, blankets and other essentials were distributed to the unfortunate living on the streets of Tel Aviv and enduring the severe cold and unprecedented rains that have hit Israel over the past two weeks.
How to get people to help the homeless?
The idea was the brainchild of Lior Levi, a young Tel Avivian, after a homeless man who was living under his apartment building died.
Levi’s idea was brilliant. He brought together several of the top local bands and performers to do a charity concert.
The price of admission to the festival? Bring a quality sweater, blanket, warm socks or other essential clothing or hygiene items for the homeless. He started the annual “Festival in a Sweater” nine years ago, and has collected about nine tons of supplies for the growing homeless population of Tel Aviv. Add some Messianic Jews...
