Again and again, we are asked how my father, Ludwig Schneider, is doing.

 Well, my dad is persistent. Very persistent! He has been at home for about two months and is lovingly cared for around the clock by two Indians, Philip and Babu. For this, we have set up a room between his library and the study.

Even though he could not express it in words, we saw in his eyes that he realized he was now lying in the place he most loved. Being in the hospital was torture for him. I know how important it is for my dad to be with his family and his books. The doctors say that we should talk to him because he can understand everything. So, we do.

Ludwig is silent, he does not speak a word. And that’s very different for us. His spoken word was a source of strength. Now, it’s we who do the talking, and he can only listen. But his eyes still speak most vividly.
