In the last week of November 2024, the IDF Intelligence Corps allowed a glimpse into one of its units.

Unit 504 is responsible for “human” intelligence (as opposed to technological intel). One of its tasks is interrogating prisoners of war. Since October 7th of last year they have been very busy. As the armed forces stopped the massacre, they captured thousands of Gaza terrorists. In the ensuing months, Unit 504 interrogated more than 2,500 terrorists, resulting in tens of thousands of “intel” items regarding enemy locations and identifying thousands of targets for IDF attack.

Many of these terrorists knew bits of information that could make the difference between life and death for Israeli combat soldiers entering the Gaza twilight zone of concealed tunnels and tripwire explosives. For example, one bit of information could reveal where a tunnel is located, which house is booby trapped, or where rockets are stored.

The interrogation experts of Unit 504 were urgently called to active duty on October 7th to try to elicit this critical knowledge from the captured terrorists. The interrogators all know Arabic...
