Prime Minister Naftali Bennett landed in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, last night for his first official visit to the country.
The prime minister was received with full honors by the Gulf state’s top government ministers, as well as Israel’s ambassador to Bahrain.
The Prime Minister’s Office said Bennet will meet with the Crown Prince and the Kingdom’s Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa today to “discuss the importance of peace, progress and prosperity in the region, particularly the promotion of diplomatic and economic affairs, with a focus on technology and innovation.”
The program also includes meetings with various other ministers from the Gulf state, as well as representatives of the local Jewish community.
History was made two weeks ago when Israel Defense Minister Benny Gantz became the first Israeli statesman to visit Bahrain to sign a defense cooperation agreement between Israel and the island nation.
